The No-Nonsense Guide to Bathroom Organization

We’ve all been there, whether it’s Prime Day or an influencer’s IG story, we get tempted into buying that “miracle” bathroom product we’re sure will change our routine. Fast-forward a few weeks, and it’s sitting in the back of a drawer, never touched.

The truth? Great bathroom organization has less to do with buying the perfect bins and more to do with simplifying what you already have. Here are some of our tried-and-true rules when it comes to getting (and staying) organized in the bathroom:

1. Go Drawer by Drawer, Shelf by Shelf

Don’t tackle the whole bathroom at once. Start small, one drawer, one cabinet, or one shelf. This keeps the process from feeling overwhelming and helps you make steady progress.

Ask yourself, do you actually use it? A quick gut check:

  • Do you use it daily? Then it should be easily accessible.

  • Do you use it weekly or monthly? Then it can be stored in a secondary spot.

  • Haven’t touched it in six months? Time to let it go.

2. Back Stock Belongs Out of Sight

Buying in bulk is great—but those 12 extra tubes of toothpaste don’t need to live in your main drawer. Keep back stock hidden in a closet or higher shelf, and only keep one or two of each item where you get ready.

3. Watch for Expiration Dates

Yes, skincare and beauty products expire. Old sunscreen, mascara, or lotions not only take up space but can actually be unsafe to use. If it’s past its prime, toss it.

4. Categorize as You Go

Group similar items together; hair care, skincare, dental, makeup, first aid. This makes it easy to see what you have (and prevents you from buying duplicates).
