Tame the Chaos: Laundry Room edition

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by your own laundry room clutter!(It’s okay—we’ve all been there.) Between lost socks, mystery cords, and detergent bottles that somehow multiply overnight, laundry rooms are sneaky clutter zones. But don’t worry, the Orderly SC team is here with tried-and-true tips to help you get things back under control and maybe even enjoy the process. Maybe.

The laundry room, reimagined

  1. Start with a Clean Slate | EDIT

Before you buy one more bin, clear out the space completely. Toss the expired stain sticks, relocate anything that doesn’t belong (hello, lightbulbs?), and give the area a good wipe-down. You can’t organize clutter, you can only curate what’s worth keeping.

2. Contain Like a Pro

Invest in matching bins or baskets to group like items: stain removers, dryer sheets, extra towels, etc. Label clearly so everyone in the household knows what’s what, and what doesn’t belong there. Bonus points for stackable containers if you’re short on space.

3. Add Labels

Once you’ve grouped your items, label everything clearly and consistently. Whether you’re using a label maker, chalk tags, or handwritten tape, labels take the guesswork out of staying organized. They also keep everyone else in the house accountable (no more “where does this go?”).

4. Improve Lighting

Don’t let dim bulbs turn your laundry room into a black hole for clutter. Good lighting helps you see what you have, and what you don’t need. Upgrade old fixtures, add motion-sensor lights under shelves, or even bring in a small lamp to brighten things up. If you can’t see it, you’re not going to use it.
